He was a Christian and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and was a retired U.S. Air Force Pilot with 29 years service. He retired from Con Coal Corp. Survived by wife: Sally Bickford Winter; son & daughter-in-law: John David & Tatanya Winter of Knoxville; daughters & sons-in-law: Laura & Ken Caves of Knoxville, Rebecca Winter of Atlanta, Amy & Randy Wilkerson of Cookeville, Tn, five grandchildren; sister & brother-in-law: Laura Jo & Victor Horn of St Louis. several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association East Tennessee Region 4708 Papermill Dr Knoxville, Tn 37909.
