More detail on this person: John Paul Zartman John Paul Zartman Kentucky New Era (Hopkinsville, KY) - Friday, February 1, 2008 Services for John Paul Zartman, 59, Stratford Court, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home, Hopkinsville, with the Rev. Dr. Larry Purcell officiating. Burial will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home. He died at 6:37 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes. A native of Indianapolis, Ind., he was born Aug. 19, 1948, the son of Charles Richard Zartman, Brentwood, Tenn., and the late Lois K. Hay Zartman. He was director of Volta at Western State Hospital and was active in the Christian County Drug Court. Following 18 years of service, he retired as an Army helicopter pilot with tours in Vietnam and Korea. In addition to his father, survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Tharpe Zartman; his stepmother, Judy Ellis Zartman, Brentwood; two daughters, Bonnie and Betsy Zartman, Reading, Pa.; two stepsons, Jay Fritz, Newburg, Ind., Michael Wood, Pensacola, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Joey (Jenny) Barber, Franklin, Tenn., Mrs. Glenn (Lisa) Steketee, Lexington; a brother, Jim Zartman, New Braunfels, Texas; four sisters, Anne Zartman, Omaha, Neb., Marilu Daniels, Warner Robbins, Ga., Terry Fuller, Hillsborough, N.C., Kitty Benoay, Boca Raton, Fla., and seven stepgrandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
