More detail on this person: COL. HANS A ZANDER COL. HANS ZANDER U.S. Marine Corps, Retired Hans Zander, 77, passed away May 24, 2010. Born in Jersey City, N.J., Nov. 25, 1932, Hans lived throughout the United States, retiring to Las Vegas. He was a 31-year career Marine aviator, serving two tours in the Vietnam War and as a member of the Presidential Helicopter Squadron HMX-1. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, as well as many other military citations. Hans is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Maureen; six children; and his 12 grandchildren. Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 28. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 29, both at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2575 W. El Campo Grande Ave., in North Las Vegas. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Hans' name to the St. John Neumann Catholic Church Bell Tower in Las Vegas. Arrangements under the direction of Palm Northwest-Funeral Home, Las Vegas, NV.
